A LETTER FROM OUR VP OF RECRUITMENT & GROWTH

Dear PNM,
The time you’ve been waiting for is right around the corner— Recruitment! I know this time can bring a mix of emotions: excitement, nerves, and lots of anticipation. Just know that it’s completely normal to feel all the feelings. Every member of Phi Mu was once in your shoes, and we’re cheering you on as you begin this journey!
Recruitment is such a special time — it’s full of growth, laughter, new friendships, and discovering where you truly belong. At times it might feel like a whirlwind, but take a moment to soak in each conversation, every smile, and all the memories you’ll be making. Before you know it, you’ll be looking back with so much gratitude.
Wherever you end up, trust the process and believe in yourself. The right sisterhood is out there, and it’s waiting to welcome you with open arms. We hope this time brings you joy, confidence, and a sense of peace about where you’re meant to be.
Love In Our Bond,
Sophie Slaton Vice President of Recruitment & Growth
Our advice to Potential New Members
"Don't be afraid to be uniquely yourself during recruitment! I shared my unique passions and interests, and it led to some of my best conversations. Being authentic helps make meaningful connections and finding the chapter that's the best fit for you."
"You don’t need a personal connection to an organization’s mission to feel like you belong. While many girls come in with one, I didn’t — and that’s okay! I ended up falling in love with Phi Mu’s philanthropy, and I feel so lucky because it introduced me to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Now, Phi Mu is my connection to this cause, and it’s become something I care so much about!"
"My best advice that I could give is to trust the process. At first everything might seem so overwhelming but only because it’s a new experience!! It all pays off in the end once you run home to your forever home and meet the best girls on bid day. Having an open mind about everything while trying to make best of it will always guarantee a good time and that’s all we hope for."
